Zemtsov Dana

Biography:

Dana was born in 1992 in Mexico City and at the age of 5 she received her first music lessons from her grandmother and her parents, both violists (Mikhail Zemtsov and Julia Dinerstein). She followed her studies with the famous viola player Michael Kugel.
Winner of numerous competitions and developing an exceptional career, Dana is one of the most promising international violists of her generation.
Highlights from past seasons include her performances with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra at the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) and her orchestral debut in the United States at the Lake Forest Symphony Orchestra & Latino-America at the Orquesta de Minas Gerais.
Her internationally acclaimed versions of the album "Essentia" recorded with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and together with conductor Daniel Raiskin & 'Silhouettes' with pianist Anna Fedorova as a duo-partner. In 2012 Dana signed an exclusive recording deal with Channel Classics Records. In 2022 she released the fifth solo album of the young violists "Dutch Hidden Gems" recorded together with Phion and the director Shizuo Kuwahara.
Dana is the winner of the first prize in numerous competitions in Luxembourg, Italy, Austria, Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands. In 2010 she won the Dutch "Evening of the Young Musician" competition and became the "Young Musician of the Year" representing the Netherlands at the "Eurovision Young Musicians Competition" in Vienna. She also received the prestigious Kersjes Prize awarded annually to an outstanding young string player in the Netherlands. In 2016 Dana was chosen as 'Guest of Honor' among talented young violists to represent her generation at the 43rd Congress of the Viola in Cremona alongside artists such as Bruno Giuranna, Ettore Causa and Tabea Zimmerman. You regularly perform on the most important international stages, including the Royal Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), De Doelen (Rotterdam), St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, The Opera Hall in Tel Aviv, Carnegie Hall (New York).
Dana played chamber music with Janine Jansen, Giovanni Sollima, Martin Frost, Ilya Gringolts and pianist Boris Berezovsky. As a soloist, he has played with the Phion Orchestra, NedPho Orchestra, Sinfonia Rotterdam (Netherlands), F. Busoni Chamber Orchestra (Italy), Bergische Symphoniker (Germany), Lake Forest Orchestra (USA), Orquesta de Minas Gerais (Brazil), Orquesta Filarmónica de la UNAM, Filarmónica de Jalisco (Mexico), Estonian National Symphony (Estonia), Ukrainian National Orchestra, Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra (Ukraine) and has collaborated with conductors such as Leif Segerstam, Otto Tausk, Daniel Raiskin, Massimo Quarta, Marco Parisotto, Fabio Mechetti.
A further commitment will lead her to collaborate with the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, the Sinfonica Nacional de Mexico, the Orchester de Cannes, the Omsk Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchester Royal de Chambre de Wallonnie. International tours have taken her to Denmark, Peru and the United States. She took part in the “Stars of Tomorrow” tour in Germany, together with the most promising young talents in Europe. She has performed in the biggest festivals in the Netherlands internationally such as the Delft Chamber Music Festival, the Grachten Festival, the International Chamber Music Festival in Utrecht, the Kuhmo Festival (Finland), the West Cork Music Festival (Ireland), the Valdres Festivalen (Norway).
